Félix Salgado Macedonio, a senator and Morena's candidate for the governorship of Guerrero, has warned that if he were to run and win the 2027 elections, it would not be an act of nepotism, as his daughter, Evelyn Salgado, the current governor, would not inherit the position but would have the support of the people.
During a rally in Guerrero, the senator questioned Morena's proposal to include in its statutes the prohibition of family members of rulers running for the same position in the future, which according to him would put him at a disadvantage against other legislators of the Fourth Transformation with similar aspirations.
Salgado specifically referred to Saúl Monreal, brother of the current governor of Zacatecas, and Senator Ruth González Silva from San Luis Potosí, wife of Governor Ricardo Gallardo, who also have intentions to contest for the governorship of their states in the upcoming elections.
The senator expressed his support for the reforms proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum but criticized that these measures would harm him in his future political plans. Moreover, he pointed out that power comes from the people, and despite any imposed restrictions, he would continue with his aspiration for the governorship of Guerrero in 2027, backed by his constitutional rights.
